Art class is an exploration of mediums and techniques, along with understanding the history of the movements and their artists. In the classroom students are able to express themselves freely, challengethemselves, and improve on their own personal strengths. I chose to be an art educator for this very reason. Students are given the opportunity to build on important skills of critical thinking, self-reflection, collaboration, and patience. The art classroom encourages experimentation and a wide range of perspectives. 

            

I create a classroom where the students engage themselves in a comfortable and social learning environment. I have high expectations for them, and they are challenged every day to build on their skills. Students should expect to have an interesting and exciting curriculum, the students have opportunities for choice and freedom in the curriculum. Planned curriculum includes engaging projects which examine the various new mediums and materials most students have not had an opportunity to investigate in the past.

          

Students are encouraged to investigate the possible role of art in future careers and focus on art appreciation, even if the role of art is small. They are encouraged to explore and experiment in a variety of skills and use them in other areas of life. Problem solving and critical thinking skills practiced in the classroom, along with the collaboration and self-reflection skills, can be utilized in future careers. I believe through these experiments and investigation, students are able to see the different aspects of life where art plays a role.
